Density Current

The term 'Density Current' as it applies to the area of volcanos can be defined as '   A gravity-induced flow of one current through, over, or under another fluid media, owing to density differences. Factors affecting density differences include temperature, salinity, and concentration of suspended particles'.

The term 'Density Current' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' In hydrologic terms, a flow of water maintained by gravity through a large body of water, such as a reservoir or lake, and retaining its unmixed identity because of a difference in density'.
